In the forests of Northern New Mexico there is a trail where we've been hiking for decades, perhaps centuries. We've been carving our initials on the Aspens, sometimes with dates, sometimes with pictograms. These expressions of human existance have been here since as long as the trees have stood. Some were carved yesterday and some were carved 80 years ago.
